Forbes.com February 5, 2020: LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner is stepping down from the helm of the social-networking company. His primary goal for stepping down is to focus on how to increase diversity and inclusion in the LinkedIn social media networks. Social media platforms facilitate connections between people who went to the same university or who have worked with the same organization—thus making it easier to connect with those most similar to yourself. It does little to connect people with different backgrounds or educational paths. A big game-changer would be to allow networkers to become aware of the lack of diversity in their own networks. Inclusive Viewpoint: Kudos to Mr. Weiner for recognizing the lack of diversity and inclusion in social media platforms, a for doing something about it. LinkedIn will surely enjoy a competitive advantage for his efforts!
