The Trump Administration is prohibiting officials at the nation’s top public health agency from using a list of seven words or phrases – ‘fetus’, ‘vulnerable’, ‘ entitlement’, ‘diversity’, ‘transgender’, ‘evidenced-based’, and ‘science-based’ – in official documents prepared for the 2018 year’s budget. The Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has dropped questions about sexual orientation and gender identity in two of its surveys of elderly people, and have removed information about LGBT Americans from its website. – Inclusive Viewpoint: Prohibiting the use of words does not eliminate the fact that the things those words define do exist.
