US Government Rolls Back Women's Rights: Changes Definitions of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

The Independent.com : January 24, 2020: In a quiet move, the Trump Administration changed the definitions of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. This was done back in April of 2019, but is just now surfacing in January of 2020. 'I was massively surprised and really shocked. It’s quite scary how quietly it’s happened. It’s a massive step backwards. We have literally gone back to the 70s', says Independent Women's Correspondent Maya Oppenheim. The change could have significant repercussions for millions of victims of gender-based violence. Inclusive Viewpoint: One branch of government should NEVER have the ability to change such definitions and cause such negative consequences and impacts without checks and balances from the other branches of government. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE to change our process of governing!
